Re: Invalid Link(s) when playing media (SOLVED!!) - 2008/07/01 14:37
ok, solved. Hopefully this is usefull to other people. I started thinking what's the difference between yesterday evening (when it all worked) and now (not accessing the right links).
When I installed and configured everything, Simese runs as a desktop app with the credentials of the logged on user. After reboot Simese server runs as a service. By default they run as "LocalSystem". oh yeah... LocalSystem has no access to networked resources... Solution (in my case), open your services (Start > Run > services.msc > OK). Doubleclick to open "SimeseServer", go to the tab "Log on as" (or whatever it is in english, or your language ) and change the LocalSystem account to a windows user who has proper access to the (mapped network) drives.
Restart and all should be well, for me it is. As an extra precaution I made a batch file that reconnects all my drivemappings as a persistent connection, but I doubt that was necesarry in retrospect.
Hope this was helpfull to anyone and I'm sure it was in the manual. I just suck at rtfm sorry, that happens if you work with computers all day
