Simese and PopCorn Hour - 2008/03/20 07:31
There seems to be a problem (reported by others on the PopCorn Hour & Istar forums as well) when using the the Simese server software with a Syabas NMT.
The Popcorn Hour & iStar Mini are just badged Syabas NMT using the EM8634 chip.
The UPNP Discovery and Menus work fine, the problem is when streaming a movie via http. The film will start to play then it starts to stutter and freeze, from what I understand the http block size that Simese is sending is too small. I have tested the Popcorn Hour with IIS6 & myiHome and it streams just fine with either.
At the moment my work-around is to use Simese for the menu's on Port 8000 and IIS to stream the movies on port 80. Not a very clean solution and limits the use of bookmarks!!
I have emailed Marco in the hope that this can be fixed.
Thanks Duncan
