Adding DVDs to your online collection - 2005/12/06 15:13
I use DVDdecrypter and AutoGK to make online copies of my DVDs as AVI's (using the DixV codec) - they generally play very well on the Showcenter 1000 and look excellent when encoded at a quality setting of 80%.
Occasionally the audio and video get out of sync by about a second or so, but the movie plays fine on the PC - so I guess it must be a problem with the showcenter itself rather than the encoding.
What tools do other people use? What quality setting (or filesize) do you usually encode at? What codecs do you find works best with your hardware player?

PS: If it would be of any use to anyone I could post a simple set of instructions for using the above programs...?
Player : Pinnacle Showcenter 200 (wired ethernet) Server : HP MediaSmart EX470 NAS (Windows Home Server / Sempron CPU / 2Gb RAM / 2.0 Tb Storage).
