Changeset 1041 Update Test - 2008/08/07 19:25With changeset 1041 I tested the new update feature from within SwissCenter. The update appeared to work just fine but my language changes were once again lost Showcenters 1000g/200/250HD Popcorn Hour A-100 Netgear HDX101 Powerline Adapters Windows XP Simese 2.07 running latest SVN NAS Server IBM NetVista 900Mhz/256RAM

Re: Changeset 1041 Update Test - 2008/08/08 04:37There might be a way around that for you...
SwissCenter supports locales, so it's possible to have something like a "en-us.xml" file which is loaded after the base language ("en").
Try making a "en-us.xml" translation and add the strings you want to change into there (you can leave all the other strings out as they'll be inherited from the base language. Re: Changeset 1041 Update Test - 2008/08/08 06:11In theory all you need to do is add a new line to your languages.txt:
English (US),en-us
and the language editor should take care of the rest.Player : Netgear EVA700 & Popcorn A-100 (081106) Server : Vista SP1 Home Premium (Simese 2.07, SwissCenter current SVN) Spec : Intel C2Q Q6600, 2GB RAM, 1Tb storage.

Then I tried making a copy of the en folder and renaming it en-us but whenever I try to select English (US) is just defaults back to English.

Re: Changeset 1041 Update Test - 2008/08/15 20:17I should've mentioned you should also create the en-us folder but you've already done that now. Do NOT copy the original en.xml into this new folder.
I have just tried this and the editor created the en-us.xml containing only the modified texts as required. Then went into the Preference and Changed language. This worked as expected.Player : Netgear EVA700 & Popcorn A-100 (081106) Server : Vista SP1 Home Premium (Simese 2.07, SwissCenter current SVN) Spec : Intel C2Q Q6600, 2GB RAM, 1Tb storage.

This also got me thinking that you could do a language for a theme. For instance, instead of "Main Menu" on the Star Trek theme you could have "Control Panel" or something like that but the language wouldn't automatically change with the theme.... is it a possible feature to include an xml within the style folder?Showcenters 1000g/200/250HD Popcorn Hour A-100 Netgear HDX101 Powerline Adapters Windows XP Simese 2.07 running latest SVN NAS Server IBM NetVista 900Mhz/256RAM

I was going to say "NO" because you'd need to supply translations for every language supported by SwissCEnter, but then I thought "well, why not? You could supply a en.xml in the style folder that is used if, and only if, the current language is EN".
Of course, you'd have to check the version of each string in the language file to ensure you're only overwriting strings with the same version or more... but yes, I guess this would be possible.
Nigel - the language editor your work... would this be quite easy to add or not? (oh, and can we get an option to add a language from within the config screen rather than editing the languages.txt file?). Re: Changeset 1041 Update Test - 2008/08/16 07:57Hmm, this sounds like alot of hassle for something that will probably hardly ever used.
I can add the option to add languages though.Player : Netgear EVA700 & Popcorn A-100 (081106) Server : Vista SP1 Home Premium (Simese 2.07, SwissCenter current SVN) Spec : Intel C2Q Q6600, 2GB RAM, 1Tb storage.

Bummer... some themes (Star Trek is a good example) would lend themselves to having their own language and it would be simple to create it and include it in the style folder. However, if it can't be loaded with the style, I don't think it would work.Showcenters 1000g/200/250HD Popcorn Hour A-100 Netgear HDX101 Powerline Adapters Windows XP Simese 2.07 running latest SVN NAS Server IBM NetVista 900Mhz/256RAM
