Thanks for opening the new thread. True I am learning all the time and actually it a nice puzzle most of the time
I discovered something new in the mean time. First a short description of my media locations. I have 4 locations for avi files:
Series (TV-series) Cabaret Cartoons Films
All have the same parent directory: /volume/video/
The interesting part is that I just noticed that avi files in the Cabaret directory play fine. Just the files in the other dirs dont play.

I can't really see any significant differences.... If you have any ideas its much appreciated.
Also further guidance on php_zip.dll issue is appreciated. The album art for series isn't retreived any more and accoring the thetvde thread this may be related.

Re: Video playback problem - 2008/06/01 10:02I just remembered something. In the swiss directory on the NAS a directory "media" is listed. Before the dtabase renewal 4 entries where listed in this directory: 1,2,3,4
After the database renewal 4 additional entries have been made: 5,6,10 & 11.

Re: Video playback problem - 2008/06/01 10:33When you recreate a new DB the old symlinks remain in the media directory, but all (video) files should stream with the newest symlinks; in your case thre're within directories 5,6, 10 & 11.
The funny thing is that the links you posted point at the original symlinks and I expect that causes the problem. Can you play the files through SwissCenter on your PC with WMP or WinAmp, if not what's the error message?

Re: Video playback problem - 2008/06/01 12:10I cant play any of the the files streaming using the Swisscenter on a PC. (so also the Cabaret files dont play)
I tried WinAmp, WMP BS PLayer & Zoomplayer. All fail playing without a error message or a very generic one. (Also tried to play the files both on a Win XP SP2 desktop & a Win Vista Laptop but the same results)
I also noticed the "old" media links in the URL's. To solve it, you should remove all media locations through the SwissCenter config screen. Subsequently, telnet your CS and remove the remaining links manually. Then, remove the entire media directory. Finally, you should re-enter the media locations in the config screen and do a full media search.
I suppose this will solve the problem.

So with the renewal of the database these links got somehow messed up. Or are you supposed to remove the media directory before/after a database renewal? I guess not.
Anyway, I am on track again. I have some questions about the zip module and the collection of the art & synopsis for the TV series using the TheTVDB parser does not work.
And more items on my " to do list" are:
1. Some sound tracks are out of sync with the movie 2. Possibilities to speed up menu browsing etc.
I will post a new threads for those.
