So I've made modification in weather_cc.php for the "//" (replace '/weather/large/' by 'weather/large/'). And now in the logfile: Unable to process image specified : /volume1/web/svr/swiss/weather/large/.gif

I've got a problem with SwissCenter on a Synology DS109. Followed the manual, everything seems to work fine but whenever I try to add a media location I get a "page not found" message. Refreshing brings up the screen and than the media location seems to be added. But when I try to search for media all I get is a "page not found" screen. The logfile, which I added to this message says that a scan is being performed but never a video, mp3 or photo is added to the library.
I updated to the latest SVN, recreated the database and tried again but it won't work. Anyone have a idea about what might be the problem?

Your issue could be related to incorrect symlinks in your '/media/'-directory. Check the media locations you've entered in the SwissCenter config screen on the one hand and the symlinks created by Apache in directory '/media'. The latter should be done by telnetting your DS.
The issue might be caused by a mismatach between the media locations and the symlinks; this sometimes occurs when a new SwissCenter DB is created without deleting the contents of the '/media/'-directory.

You were right, part of the problem is solved now. Media locations are added good now but searching for media in the config just leaves the percentages at 0. In the logfile I can also see that no media is added. Doing the system tests gives no output, the screen stays empty. I included the logfile again and a printscreen of the Support page. Don't know what's going wrong with this. It should be easy I guess

I'd already followed step 12 and placed the fonts in /svr/swiss/fonts. arial_tt13.gdf up to arial_tt36.gdf. I also replaced image.php with the download-version. Did it both again just to be sure but no notable difference.
The source of the system tests-page stops at line 72: <td width="6" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> </td><td valign="top"> Don't know what should follow next there? In the message above this one the image you asked for can be found.
Would like to use Swiss Center but seems like there's something completely wrong.

Well, there are two things you can try. First, check whether the path pointing to your fonts, being

is entered in the 'Miscellaneous' menu of your SwissCenter config screen. If not, please do so, and run the system tests again.
In case you still have a blank screen, it might be possible that your DS109 is an so-called 'Big Endian' model. In this case you'll need a different type of font set, which you can download here. Again, you have to plug-in the path pointing at your fonts in the SwissCenter config screen.

It's guesing why the media search doesn't work; but it could be that your DS doesn't recognise your paths as media locations. A path like

This means that from this firmware the Synology supports the original SwissCenter “Now Playing” –screen (which is great).
To get this you should update your Synology firmware to beta version 2.3-1118, then redo step [5] until and including step [9], and afterwards step [12] and [14].

did you find TTF fonts that work on our Synology with DS2.3-1118? If I enter for the file name under under SC - miscellaneous -TrueType "arial.ttf" as supplied with WIN 7 I get the message
Settings successfully saved... but the font seems to be invalid (or not available)
Additionally the file name shown under SC - miscellaneous - TrueType remains the last valid file name which I used before trying to switch to the new TTF font, namely (due to your earlier patched image.php): arial_tt15.gdf.
It seems SC rejects my WIN 7 arial.ttf
The SC config screen displays the error:
Unable to locate a TrueType font. The "Now Playing" screen will be missing track information.
Do you face the same problem?

I understood that these MS fonts may be used without license agreement free of charge, however, I am not 100% sure, so this should be checked before using them, just to be safe!

Parsing movie details - starts and does not finish - 2010/02/18 17:33Hi,
I have a synology ds210j (quite happy with it - exept the internal media-server) and I have installed sc as explained above.
Gernally, sc works (seems a bit slow?) and does it's basic function (play movies and music).
However, one - quite nice - feature of sc seems not to work: When I update media (media-search) sc seems to find all my movies, however the download of "extra information" (like actors, genre, director ...) seems not to work. I seems to download these details just for 1 movie (the download for this 1 movie works) but it does not find or download these extra-information for all other movies.
In "configuration/search for new media is just shows: "Current status : Parsing movie details"
Could this be a sql-mistake? I guess you would need a kind of log file? If yes, where can I find this log-file.
I would appreciate, if you have a clue what could be the reason for this mistake, as I would be glad to use this function.

yes, it is. As mentioned, sc gets all these extra-infos for 1 movie (but not for all the other movies)
In the meantime I have found the support.log.

I have made somemore tests and realized:
- When I switch off the option "download extra information" then process "search new media" starts and ends normally. Of course, I do not get then the extra-information, which I want. So, it seems to be a problem with downloading these information (again: for 1 movie it works) - nas and sc have an internet-connection (for exmaple internet-radio works) - maybe helpful in this connection: the "weather forecast" does not show any pictures
Maybe these information and the "support.log" which I have added can help to identify the problem.

Hi All, I successfully got SwissCenter to work on my DS410j. Even my "System Tests" screen works a treat since installing the GDF fonts.
However, I'm still getting a "blank" now playing screen. Album Art etc appears fine in the other menus.
I'm using a Showcenter 250HD and Showcenter 100.
Turning on the logging, I can't see any obvious errors.. I have attached the swisscenter log below, turned to level 7.

However, I think I understand now, why sc downloads just the extra-info for 1 movie (it's "Rbon Hood): Teh support-log shows that sc seems to be in a kind of circle - it prases always just this very movie and starts afterwards again with this movie:

For soem reason sc does not go on with the next movie, but always restarts the "Robin Hood"-movie.
What could be the reason for that?

I believe I have followed your instructions correctly for a Synology DS410j running DSM 2.2-0965.
I'm not getting any errors in the Log File, even with Level 8/9 turned on.
Any ideas?

It might be possible that your Synology is a so-called 'Big Endian'-type machine; for 'Big Endian's you need a different type of fonts (see step [14] of the manual). Download the fonts from here and paste them in the '/font'-directory.

I have now upgraded to the latest firmware (DSM 2.3-1139), and can't get any media to stream.
I have noticed that the "open_base_dir" change ini php.ini will not persist. Every time I restart Apache, it goes back to the default.
Do you have any thoughts? Help please!

OK, let's try the following: change file php.ini once more and save the changes. Then open it again, and see if your adjustments are still there. If so, close the file again with command frist 'ESC', and then ':q!', restart Apache and afteward check if the changes are kept.

what I did to get around this was to comment out the entire open_basedir line:
