EVA8000 - 2008/05/09 21:19 Hi everyone. I'm new to SwissCenter but I'm loving it. I was a former wizd user. They had a good job with wizd, but Swiss is better in many levels...

To the point: does anyone know if SwissCenter is compatible with Eva8000? I have an Eva700, but I'm quite disappointed with some eva700's issues, like the "always white" subtitle font and the inability to sync music and display image.

Thanks!

I have no idea how well SwissCenter will work with the EVA8000 but I very much doubt it would help with your issues. If I had an 8000 then I could add support for it but have no intention of getting one due to the many issues reported in the Netgear forums.

I'm still hoping to solve the EVA700 sync issue though... sometime.
Player : Netgear EVA700 & Popcorn A-100 (081106)
Server : Vista SP1 Home Premium (Simese 2.07, SwissCenter current SVN)
Spec : Intel C2Q Q6600, 2GB RAM, 1Tb storage.

Re: EVA8000 - 2008/05/12 09:35 Oh really? I was thinking Netgear will learn from Eva700 mistakes and would fix all Eva700 issues on Eva8000 release...

That's too bad. I think my next step should be ShowCenter 200 then...

Re: EVA8000 - 2008/05/12 10:13 Don't get me wrong, the EVA8000 is a much more advanced player than the EVA700, and is supported with continuous firmware updates from Netgear. It really depends on what you want to do with it. Check the Netgear forums for current known issues, they may not affect you.

Since none of us have one of these then we have no idea how well (or badly) SwissCenter will run on one.

If it's HD support that you're looking for then maybe think about the Popcorn Hour since it's the most talked about device at the moment, and Syabas are listening to SwissCenter devs to solve compatibility issues.

I don't think there is much difference between your current EVA700 and the SC200, in fact the EVA supports more file formats (AAC,M4A)!

Re: EVA8000 - 2008/05/21 16:29 The EVA8000 does not support any HTTP type servers. It only does SMB at the moment and uPNP from WMP11 for DRM content.

Re: EVA8000 - 2008/05/28 10:26 Hey, pardizzone, thanks for you reply.

Actually I think the lack of http support on Eva8000 just take it off the my list of next media players...

Pernod, I was wondering if popcorn hour is a good idea, but I check around some forums and read so many complaints about it...

I going for a SC 250. As Rob has one I think he should add more new SwissCenter features tested for SC than other media players!

Re: EVA8000 - 2008/05/28 10:54 I have a Popcorn and find it plays everything I throw at it. It also works with SC fairly well and as they improve the unit's firmware I'm sure things will only be better on it. It hasn't been out very long and will have a few bumps as development continues on it.

Re: EVA8000 - 2008/05/28 11:05 I would be tempted with the Popcorn but maybe wait a few months until we know if firmware updates will solve the remaining issues we have with SwissCenter (discussed elsewhere).

They actually gave a box to Rob for development purposes, so there's hope!!
