Windows developers needed... - 2008/03/20 05:44 One of the main features missing from SwissCenter is the ability to schedule and record TV programmes using a capture card or DVB-T device.

So... this is a call for any windows developers out there who might be able to make this a possibility.

Ideally, the utility would be able to:

- Setup the DVB-T channels list (tune the stations)
- Accept instructions to switch to a specific channel and record to a names file at a set time and for a set duration (eg: BBC1, at 20/Mar/2008 21:00:00 for 6 0 minutes to file c:\programme_name.avi).

In addition, it would be very useful if the schedule information could be read from the EPG broadcast as part of the DVB-T stream, and written to a location accessible by SwissCenter (eg: an XML file, or better still, directly into the MySQL database).

The program itself would be completely independant from SwissCenter, and would provide a simple API that could be used from within PHP (eg: via the command line or by writing to a file that is monitored by the app)

Re: Windows developers needed... - 2008/03/20 08:24 I'm calling for windows developers because there aren't any open source solutions out there that we can use on Windows.

On linux, there are other solutions - in fact some people already have the MythTV backend recording programmes to disk which are then played back via SwissCenter later. I would be happy to implement tighter integration with MythTV. Player : Pinnacle Showcenter 200 (wired ethernet)

Re: Windows developers needed... - 2008/03/20 19:28 The Nebula DigiTV cards have an SDK you can download and a defined API to talk to them. Their software already handles just about everything else you want I think - recording particular channels at defined times and creating files named after the programme.

Re: Windows developers needed... - 2008/03/28 21:34 I use http://www.gbpvr.com/]GB-PVR to record and then view with Swisscenter. Unfortunately, GB-PVR is not open source. But, it has an "enhanced web admin" plugin that can be used to remotely schedule recordings from a web browser. Would it be possible to get the browser to work from within swisscenter? I tried it a while back, but didn't have any luck. I can't remember what kind of message I recieved. I'll have to try again and report the error. Popcorn Hour connected to Panny TH-50PX77U

Even MythTV comes with a web-based interface, very usefully for managing recordings etc. But, when browsing on the TV, I feel there is a need for another, more TV friendly interface (less information, better organised for TV) like the Swiss.

So, my suggestion is to make Swiss HMI independent of which backend that we uses and make Swiss capable of accessing the data provided by any backend. There is no need to invent the wheel again, so let the backend handle EPG, scheduling etc.

Maybe it could be possible to have some kind of "open interface" that makes it easy to adopt Swiss to other Backends than for example MythBackend and GB-PVR.
