RSS Feeds - Changeset 948 Error - 2008/03/16 18:48After applying the Subject changeset.. calls to any menu where the buttons appear at the bottom of the screen result in the following error message being displayed:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: tvid_code() in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Simese\Data\base\page.php on line 228

Re: Changeset 948 Error - 2008/03/16 19:32I've just submitted the RSS UI, which includes the function that you are missing.
Everything RSS should now be functional
The image and audio feeds work very well, although there are some html encoding issues with some feeds that I've tested (usually Atom feeds). I've also noticed some RSS 2.0 feeds have incorrect item titles and no image. This is due to the parser not reading RSS 2.0 iTunes extensions correctly, I'll be looking into this. I've not been able to play any video feeds due to my player not supporting the format used (mov, m4v), some manage to play the audio though.
If you find any feeds with other issues then post them here for me to investigate.

Couple things:
1) Which media search includes the RSS items ..web? I don't often do a full search.
2) Options are given for audio, video, and image. I assume a text news feed would be image?

I haven't done a full search in some time but since I wasn't sure about the RSS, I did one and at first I thought the system was hung but apparently it is just going to take a very long time to get through my large photo collection. It appears to be adding/updating information about each photo.

Aw crud .. I did not realize that I needed to re-fresh the database to get the information AAAAARRRGGGHHH no wonder the new browse options didn't appear to add anything new for me.. Re: Changeset 948 Error - 2008/03/16 21:13With the addition of the RSS Menu Item, the Main Menu now extends more than one page which I don't think is a very good idea for a main menu and something should be combined/eliminated from the Main Menu.
Possible solutions:
1) Make Watch TV an option off "Watch a Video"
2) Make Internet Radio and option off "Listen to Music"
3) Make RSS an option off "Browse the Web"
4) Make the Weather forecast an option off "Browse the Web"
or possibly...

Re: Changeset 948 Error - 2008/03/16 22:43There is a glitch somewhere as the media refresh now just goes on forever... it appears to finish 100% complete but then just keeps on re-freshing the page over and over... the media update light on the player blinking forever.
Edit: I deleted the RSS feeds and the media search completed as one might expect. I'm attaching the portion of the log where I insert the rss audio (cnet) and then do a media search. The log stops where I take it out. Hope this helps.

Can you replace your rss.php with the attached and try again. This should now create the missing folders.

Ok.. take a look at this image. In the top left pane, it would have a caption that says "previous" a short blurb and an image. in the bottom left pane, it would have a caption that says "next" a short blurb and an image. The large right pane would have the current RSS feed info (the actual panes would be divided by lines rather than colors).
Hope this helps explain it.

There would also be a waste of valuable screen space when the preview panes contain short descriptions. I think the current layout makes the best use of the space available.

Another thing that is really needed but I'm not certain where to put it (probably on the main page at the bottom) is a date/time stamp for the last time the rss media was updated.

Here's my list of outstanding items that I intend to work on: 1. Display time of last feed update (suggestions on where to put this). 2. Improve parser for iTunes RSS extensions. Currently if an itunes:image is defined in an item then it will overwrite the channel image. 3. Use full Atom contents if available rather than truncating to RSS equivalent. 4. Add buttons to update all/single feeds. 5. Replace Image/Audio/Video tags with icons, or other alternative. 6. Back page is not yet perfect.

Re: Changeset 948 Error - 2008/03/21 09:46I now have about 3 pages of RSS feeds/podcasts that I have been playing with and I have noticed that a media refresh of these can take some time. What used to be a quick refresh of movies to add a single title is no longer quick.
You are probably already planning to fix this but just wanted to point out that refreshing the RSS with everything else has slowed things considerably.
