Before you give up .. I would really like to have an option to remove the line "please select an option from the list" from the menus. The line interferes with some themes and really serves no purpose.

Well that was interesting. Went into the language editor and removed the translation and here is the result (and the SELECT_OPTION no longer appears in the language editor):
