Problem using MusicIp - 2007/05/27 08:47 Hi!
I got MusicIP running on the same machine where SwissCenter is running.
When i start MusicIP and go to Options-Services all Boxes are checked und the services Port is 10002, as it is under the Swiss-Center Options. But when I play Musik over the Swisscenter, there is no Option to play similar Musik or Artists and even the SwissCenter config-Page says "MusikIP is not installed or configured correctly". What's wrong?
Sorry for my bad english,
Ralf

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2007/05/27 08:49 Have you installed MusicIP as a service? If not, then it won't be running in the background and SwissCenter won't be able to connect to it. See the instructions here. Player : Pinnacle Showcenter 200 (wired ethernet)
Server : HP MediaSmart EX470 NAS (Windows Home Server / Sempron CPU / 2Gb RAM / 2.0 Tb Storage).

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2007/05/27 13:18 I just installed MusicIP and had the same problem. Though the MusicIP server was running at the correct port (could access it via HTTP), Swisscenter claimed it was not configured correctly.
Solution was not that difficult: See again on the MusicIP homepage what they say about how to run the server. In my case, I didn't copy the mmm.ini to where it belongs (~/.MusicMagic in Linux). I stopped the server again, copied the file there, set UPnP to 1 in the mmm.ini and started the server again. That made it - at least on the config page, Swisscenter now accepted it.
Still, I couldn't find were the option to play similiar songs is to be found (just tried with Firefox). Moreover, to the left of each song there's a red dot displayed (I remember, to some songs I saw a green one) - no idea what this means...

P.S.: Hell, that prog eats all of my CPU while scanning the songs...

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2007/05/28 07:09 Hi!
Thanks admin, that instruction solved the problem in my case!
@izzy: I didn't need to copy or edit anything, works just fine for me the way it should

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2008/05/20 11:58 Sorry to reopen an old thread, but this describes exactly my problem

Swisscenter and MusicIP running on the same machine (WinXP Home + SP3)
Everything is running on the standard ports
I can configure the MusicMagic Server through the browser at http://localhost:10002/server

..but the SwissCenter system tests say "MusicIP is not installed (or configured correctly)." and the Media Management audio screen says "A MusicIP server cannot be found."

I followed the instructions linked above. I also tried starting the service from the GUI on another port. No joy.

I have the exact same results on two different WinXP machines so I assume it's something that I'm doing/failing to do... but I have no idea what!

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2008/05/20 14:19 Swisscenter and MusicIP running on the same machine (WinXP Home + SP3)
I doubt that it is the problem but I am installing SP3 on the server to check....

Edit: Now running the same configuration as you and MusicIP is working fine. Since you can access it from localhost, the service is running and I'm at a loss as to why it isn't working for you

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2008/05/20 19:12 Well. it just got weirder. I went away for a few hours (to go to work...) and when I came back, I refreshed the config screen and it said it was OK (check mark)! A little later I rebooted (because I was having issues with another service...) and now it doesn't work again. Very strange.

I'm sure it must be something I'm doing wrong because I've had the same difficulty on two completely different machines -- I just have no idea what it might be!

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2008/05/20 19:55 Even though the config says it isn't installed properly, are you getting the menu option? Showcenters 1000g/200/250HD Popcorn Hour A-100

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2008/05/22 13:36 Yep, the option is there on my PopcornHour even though the config screen still says it isn't installed... although selecting it seemed to hang the PCH (either that, or generating a playlist takes *way* longer than I have patience for...)

BTW I am using the GA 1.49(?) Simise server -- would the 2.02 beta make a difference?

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2008/05/22 13:51 either that, or generating a playlist takes *way* longer than I have patience for..
In the config, what is your playlist size setting? I think mine is set at like 50.

would the 2.02 beta make a difference?
It should not make a difference.

MusicIP works for me whether selecting by album or title. First I get the typical error message about not being able to display a picture, the screen goes blank, and the music starts playing.

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2008/10/10 03:54 Hi.
I found one thing that might be a solution to this, (at least it was for me)

In the config_check.php there is a test to verify that MusicIP is available.

Adding a TRUE parameter to the musicip_available( ) call will force a recheck instead of using a cached value for the session, and this caused the MusicIP server to be discovered correctly.

Code line 187:
$component_tests->add_test( $musicip, musicip_available( TRUE ), str('PASS_MUSICIP_TEST'),str('FAIL_MUSICIP_TEST').'<p>'.str('MIP_DESC','<a href="http://www.musicip.com">www.musicip.com</a>'),FALSE);

Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2008/10/10 12:28 I don't see any harm in the change you made so I'll probably submit it for next release. Player : Netgear EVA700 & Popcorn A-100 (081224)

Possible solution? Re: Problem using MusicIp - 2008/12/04 17:39 Possible Solution? Uninstalling MyiHome server allowed MusicIP to connect to SwissCenter successfully. This is very odd because there is no apparent conflict in their port assignments (8000 and 10002, respectively).

Well, the only thing I used MyiHome for was Playlists -- I'm having some issues with that in SwissCenter (separate thread,,,) so if I can get Playlists working OK in SwissCenter, I can happily live without MyiHome
