HOW-TO: Installing a beta release - 2005/12/06 16:51
Updating your SwissCenter installation to the latest beta / development version is very simple.
However, please remember that development releases may contain bugs or some features may only be partially working (generally only new features that are in the process of being written) and that it is possible that you may have to reinstall the SwissCenter should you encounter any major problems.
Once updated, you cannot return to a previous version
Updating to a beta / development version
Using your hardware player (Showcenter, Linkplayer, PCH, etc) or by using a web browser on your PC enter the SwissCenter interface Main Menu and select the following options:
1. select Configuration
2. select Update Swisscenter
3. select Update to the latest development build.
It may take several minutes, but once complete you will be running the latest development build.
Note that the version of SwissCenter that you are currently running is displayed in the sub-heading of the Configuration menu (known as the SVN number).
Reporting bugs
If you experience any bugs then please check that you are running the very latest build (by performing the above steps once again) and re-test before posting to the forums.
If the bug is still present, then please post the following information to the fourms:
- A description of the problem / what happened.
- A description of what you think should have happened.
- The SVN number of the release you are using.
- Details on what player you are using, and on what platform (OS and Webserver) that SwissCenter is installed on.
