Streaming ISO's from the SC system? - 2008/10/07 21:07 I like the ability to play ISO's in Swisscenter, but.....

I don't keep a HD in my PCH (too hot, no redundancy, etc). So using SC to access ISO's that are on the PCH is not and option for me.

Has anyone experimented with integrating connecting an NFS share (present on my server) into SC?

I poked apart the DVD Video code, and it translates a SMB or NFS share to a local URL on the PCH. Can it be changed to a NFS or SMB reference to another server?

I'll continue to poke at the code myself, but any suggestions would be helpful.

The local URL on the PCH is the mount point where the SMB/NFS share is mounted. SwissCenter then sends this URL to the PCH in order to play the ISO.

If you can play the ISO from the PCH using the network share then SwissCenter will also be able to play it. There is no need to poke at the code, it already does what you want.

In SwissCenter add a media location that points to the same location as the network share you have setup the PCH, then assign it the relevant network share from the dropdown. Run a media search, then you'll be able to play the ISO from SwissCenter.

Re: Streaming ISO's from the SC system? - 2008/10/08 09:59 I understand all of that Nigel... but if you can do as you say ...play the ISO from the PCH ....but not from the SC where do you start looking for an answer to start troubleshooting... the SC interface shows the DVD/video menus along with the bio info on movie you select but will not play when you select play from the dvd menu.Everything works as it should from the video side on SC.

Thanks for the tip. I ended up figuring out my issue:

The PCH had not connected to SC, thus the network share page couldn't be retrieved.

Once I fixed that (and removed a colon from a filename that evidently wasn't allowed), my ISO's are playing now. Yay!
