 problems with GETID3 and disappearing files - 2008/09/28 12:41 Since the latest version I have major problems with rescanning my files .
Files previously added can not be found anymore in the DB after a rescan and after renaming the file and rescanning will be added again, but then on next run dropped again.

And it is not just the case of one bad file but lately with 2 out of 3 new videos i get it. (I have mostly VOB'S, but some avi's and they experience the same problem)
All files in question can be played normally with any other tool and after below trick as well with the pinnacle showcenter.

Example from the log when added for the first time

[2008.09.27 17:04:33] Found Video : Hero Wanted.VOB
[2008.09.27 17:04:33] GETID3 claims this is not a valid video:
[2008.09.27 17:04:33] Adding Video : Hero Wanted.VOB

after this file is found via menu as normal. But after a second rescan the file dissappears without any refference in the log. Another rescan does not bring it back unlkess i rename the file

Rename the file and rescan :

[2008.09.28 18:24:32] Found Video : Hero Wanted 1.VOB
[2008.09.28 18:24:33] GETID3 claims this is not a valid video:
[2008.09.28 18:24:33] Adding Video : Hero Wanted 1.VOB

This time I can see it in again in the browser. But after a next run it disappears again.

So any files added with the GETID error are added initialy , but disappear without a trace after a second run.

 Re: problems with GETID3 and disappearing files - 2008/10/10 08:39 This may be a stupid question, but what max certificate level do you have set for your user (under "User management")?

If the movies are updated (from IMDB or using one of the other parsers) to have a higher certificate than your user has permissions to see then they will appear to have vanished from SwissCenter.

 Re: problems with GETID3 and disappearing files - 2008/10/10 12:41 This is not a problem with GetID3, the message simply means that GetID3 doesn't support this filetype since VOB's do not contain metadata.

Is this issue only with VOB's or other filetypes too?

Which player are you using, a PCH? If it is a PCH then do you have a Network Share defined and assigned to any media location?

Could you also add some details to your signature.
