Help--Since Update lost files - 2008/09/21 22:00I browse my tv shows by filesystem, most are working since the update, I go into my simpsons folder and there is nothing there...I hit refresh and wait, it comes back and nothing there.. I check the log and it says...
Unable to read the directory contents. Are the permissions correct?
what do i do? please help. The files are there where they always were but swisscenter cant read them anymore. tia
---edit I checked the other posts and did the thumbnail and compact view and VOILA I got my simpsons back, so this is the same 'browse by filesystem" bug others reported, maybe my permissions message can help solve this

the only way to play the folder content is by pressing the "select all" and then play.
All the directories look as empty.
I've deleted the database and did a refresh of it with the same result. Somethig has to be wrong in the last versions

If you browse the file system with SwissCenter on your PC, how does the URL looks like of a page that fails to line out your TV shows?

Re: Help--Since Update lost files - 2008/09/22 13:24There are known issues with Browse by Filesystem, which are partially fixed in my development version.
Part of the problem is due to switching viewing mode through Compact, Thumbnail, and List. The Compact mode can show more items per page and the page number is not being adjusted correctly when changing to List or Thumbnails.

As far as I understand is browsing through the TV shows an adapted form of browsing the file system, but then limited to TV shows, however, not sure to be honest ...

I tried the TV Shows data type when it was first introduced and it was buggy and I couldn't select shows across seasons and there was no expression editor etc. So I have a category of Video file that I call "TV Shows". My db knows this as category 6 and I tweaked my install to automatically choose Browse by Filesystem when I choose this category. So I am generally browsing my videos by filesystem, it is not, as you must have assumed, the newly implemented 'tv shows' category. I hope this clears things up

No, there's no PageUp, neither PageDown. There are no files to go up or down. The screen shows empty, except for the showcenter navigation. It's as if there were no files in the directory.
This happens when you browse by filesystem.
If you pageUp nothing happens. If you change the view mode, no files are shown. But if you choose "play all" you get to the next screen and it shows no files at all. But you can play them....
(I'm talking withouth having the showcenter in front of me, but this describes the problem more or less)

I have a category of video called tv shows and I have my system fixed to automatically browse this category by filesystem. The only folder that is demonstrating this issue is in a folder called ANIMATION and a subfolder called The Simpsons. When I browse to that location by means of my tv connected linkplayer I have no files on the screen and page up page down next and previous provide no functionality. If I change to thumbnail view I am now provided with the option to page up and when I do I see the thumbnails for my files, then I choose compact view and then back to list view and there are my files the way I initially expected. The only interesting thing in my log is the original error message that started this thread Unable to read the directory contents. Are the permissions correct? I am seeing this a lot in my log and would love it if someone could shed some light on this message. I hope this helps to recreate the issue.

Here's a log of a directory that has I have no problems to watch. I enter on it and do a rescan. The bizarre thing is that I can see files on the showcenter to play, but the swisscenter has the same "folder rights" problem

The error message is triggered when PHP uses opendir() to open the folder, and it's failing! Are you using XP or Vista?
Which version of PHP are you using? can anybody give any hints on how to do this?
I downloaded PHP5 and put the needed files on the directory of simese, but it didn't work.

Re: Help--Since Update lost files - 2008/09/26 18:09I've got the same issue (while browsing music) where it seems that only the first few albums of a folder seem to be populated, and sometimes only half. the rest of the folders look empty, however when i browse on MP3 tag is seems working.
btw i'm using centos linux 5 and lampp as a lamp solution

This is weird. I thought this had to be a windows related issue, but it's happening also on Linux, so something has to be wrong somewhere

This log is after I requested another scan of the directory. The interesting thing for me is that php it seems it cant access to the directory, but the content got indexed before in the database the last time.

Can anybody that know the inner work of swisscenter take a look to the SQLs? I'm sure this problem has to be related with the SQL. As I see the "browse by filesystem" is not really a filesystem browse, but a "sql" browse that looks like the filesystem
