Re: Import XML? - 2008/09/22 05:09Noone?
Is this an unsued feature or is it just export? But export only would be quite useless, wouldn't it?2x SC200 (wired), SwissCenter latest SVN, Simese 1.40 http://www.knecht-ruprecht.info

Give people people a little time....
From memory you need to refresh the meta data associated with the programme. One way of doing this would be to force a meta data refresh ( I would limit it to the category that the media file is in ). Another is to move the file and xml somewhere else and then search for new media with clean up, put it back and search for new media.
I just had a quick look at home: Find the episode under edit tv details and try lookup tv episode I would expect that to use the xml in preference to the parser.-- Server: Debian 4.0, Ram: 3 gig , Disc : 5 TB Client: Buffalo LinkTheatre, dLAN 200 AV MySQL 5.0.32-Debian_7etch1-log

Re: Import XML? - 2008/09/22 06:43Thanks for your reply.
Not sure if I got it, though.
Does it mean that the XML data is used instead of the database content or is it imported next time I use the media search/update?2x SC200 (wired), SwissCenter latest SVN, Simese 1.40 http://www.knecht-ruprecht.info

The xml is not used instead of the database content as the database is authoritative. It is more of a cache of the parsed result, so I would expect it to be imported the next time the system calls the parser for that piece of media.-- Server: Debian 4.0, Ram: 3 gig , Disc : 5 TB Client: Buffalo LinkTheatre, dLAN 200 AV MySQL 5.0.32-Debian_7etch1-log

Re: Import XML? - 2008/09/22 13:07The XML files are created whenever you Edit Video Details or do Lookup Movie with the selected parser. They are only read during a media search if no details already exist for the video being scanned.
Their purpose is so that video details are not lost if the database ever has to be re-created as they will be re-read during a media search.
On the Videos page of the config there is a new option to 'Export all extra information to XML' which will simply create the XML for all videos that currently have details in the database.

Re: Import XML? - 2008/09/22 15:12Well, I thought I could use the XML for changing the details. But if I do so I'd need to wipe the DB in order to get the changes into the DB. Is that right?
Could I suggest something? I'd like to see an import button overwriting all details with the XML values.

Re: Import XML? - 2008/09/22 15:49Another observation: Umlauts are wrongly imported. The text appears correct in the XML but is distorted in the database later (new database, XML automatically imported).
Example: Gebrüder Grimm vs. Gebrüder Grimm
Should I mirror this into the bug section?2x SC200 (wired), SwissCenter latest SVN, Simese 1.40 http://www.knecht-ruprecht.info
