Update 1.21 - 2008/08/31 11:04 I updated to 1.21 but get the following report

The following tests were successful:

Able to Read/Write to the SwissCenter installation directory.
Successfully located the 'swisscenter.ini' file.
Logging enabled.

The following tests failed:

Unable to write to the SwissCenter cache directory (C:/Documents and Settings/All Users.WINDOWS/Application Data/Simese/Data/cache).
Unable to write to the SwissCenter playlists directory (playlists).

So i updated to latest nightly build SVN1071, still get the same report

any ideas?

thanks

Re: Update 1.21 - 2008/08/31 11:26 In the 1.21 release we added further tests to check your settings for the cache and playlists folders.

You should go to Advanced Options->Cache Settings and enter a valid location for cached files. Similarly go to Media Management->Playlists and set a location to be used for playlists.

Re: Update 1.21 - 2008/08/31 11:50 Thanks, that makes sense now. For the cache what exactly is cached? Then I can work out the best place to put the cache.

On a side note how to i return from SVN1071 to 1.21 stable build? Or are they the same?

thanks again

Re: Update 1.21 - 2008/08/31 12:04 The cache folder is used to store resized copies of any images used, thumbnails etc. This saves having to resize them everytime they are viewed.

It is also used to cache downloaded images from the TVDB parser. This saves bandwidth on the TVDB site.

If you use the RSS functionality then media content will be downloaded to the cache too. If this is used then the cache folder can become extremely large.

There is no reason to go back to the 1.21 release, not much has changed in the past couple of days, just a couple of minor tweaks for the better.

Maybe there should be two buttons, latest developer release and latests stable . And others could stay with real releases .

Re: Update 1.21 - 2008/08/31 12:29 Implementing something to allow users to go back to latest stable will not happen (it's been discussed before). The problem is if there have been database changes, it would be a nightmare to undo.
