Photo browsing - 2008/08/13 10:38 First and foremost I would like to say that Swisscenter is a true wonder. It works perfectly!

There is however one thing that I think could be greatly approved and that is the way in which photos can be browsed. Before I started using Swisscenter I used Pinnacle's own software. That software automatically arranged photos in periods such as months. Thus, it was possible to simply choose "July" and start a slideshow for all photos taken during that particular month.

This is a functionality that I would very much like to have in Swisscenter as well.

Hope it is possible!

Re: Photo browsing - 2008/08/13 11:02 I like that idea. A keyword search for tags assigned to pictures would also be very nice.

It would also be nice, if the items in the photo folders could optionally be sorted not by filename but by "date taken", as this is the only way to get the pictures in the right sequence when I shoot with two cameras.

Chris

You can already do a slideshow by date taken. Are you wanting to sort the list in a file system browse mode?

Re: Photo browsing - 2008/08/13 18:28 For me the most important thing is to be able to simply browse the files by years and months.

E.g. 2008 -> March -> Start slideshow.

In this case Swisscenter should gather all photos taken during march an play them even if the photos are stored in folders with folder name like the examples below:

2008-03-01
2008-03-06
2008-03-11
2008-03-22
2008-03-29

I also made a simple montage to show you what I mean. See attached image.

How can I do this? How can I show all pictures taken e.g. on 16/08/2008?

Re: Photo browsing - 2008/09/29 09:28 I cast a vote in favor of this suggestion by Gripenstedt. One thing I would change however is ordering of years form ascending to descending. His idea is similar to what ShowCenter had - however the Pinnacle approach was by filter on Year/Month/Date individually set. This also allowed for browsing on the likes of Christmas Day irrespective of year which is useful and missing from SC.

Stu2j suggests that browse by date is possible - however I can not find this option being available for photos. Further I think some "cleaning up" of the "browse by" options could be in place. For starters - "Browse by date" (sort order must be descending) would be useful for photos. Further there is an option for "Browse by Rating" for photos which in itself would be nice, but -wth- will rate and tag photos? Rating however would be somewhat useful for music where it oddly enough is not included as a valid option.

Further still - I find the photo "Browse by" Author, Location, City, Region, Country and Rating options rather useless. They can be switched off from appearing in menus, but then again who would actually benefit from any of these options?

Not in browse mode, but when viewing a slideshow...

On the photo slideshow menu....

Click on "play order" and select "date taken"
