Work in Progress - 2008/03/31 10:22 Okay, this is a long way off being a finished theme, but here goes for anyone who wants a look...

I know it'll probably not work in a lot of setups, and I know there's a chance that a new release will wreck everything, but it's been a fun learning experience anyway.. At the moment, all I've got is the main menu screen - it's just finished, and I hope to start working on some of the other screens soon. Because of this, you'll need to drop the contents of the attached zip file into an existing theme directory to get it to work.
It looks great on my tv (widescreen with hd menu option on the showcenter), but the browser messes things up pretty badly - hence the screenshot doesn't have the menu text. I'd have to take a photo of the tv for that.

Anyway, if anyone does give it a go, let me know how you get on, and whether you'd be interested in a copy of the completed theme..

It's not at simple as that since the various themes now move the menus around with varied menu bar lengths etc. Which theme are you testing it with where it looks great on your TV?

Re: Work in Progress - 2008/03/31 10:46 Stu,

I've included the styles.ini with the correct menu position, size, and colour in the zip file

Re: Work in Progress - 2008/03/31 11:41 My bad for not being clear.

If this is simply dropped into an existing theme, it will simply corrupt that theme. If you are not actually modifying an existing theme, I recommend that you use the same background for all menus.

In other words

PAGE_MUSIC = bg_index
PAGE_PHOTO = bg_index
etc

and align all the menus the same way.

This essentially makes it a very simple but workable theme to test which can be modified/enhanced later.

Edit: Take a look at this file. Basically, I made what you did into a very simple theme of its own that folks can download and use which can easily be modified.

Re: Work in Progress - 2008/03/31 13:25 Ah, ok - gotcha.

I guess I should have thought of that instead of being in such a hurry to post it.

Anyway, aside from that mistake - any feedback?

My setup does not have the "Please select" lines on the menus (which are supposed to be removed for everyone in the next version) so the menu lines are shifted up and thus don't appear correctly in the window.

I'd recommend making the menu window larger to accomodate alignment problems which are certain to exist.

I like lots of themes so keep working at it

Re: Work in Progress - 2008/05/13 22:20 To the author of this theme:

The changes in version 1.21 make this a viable theme. The new clean menu interface along with the ability to define a keyboard background make my working copy useable.

Please keep after it...

Re: Work in Progress - 2008/05/14 17:17 Well...

I'll most certainly get back to it sometime.
However, the company I work for has just made more than half the staff (including me) redundant, so I reckon getting a new job will have to take priority
