Invalid Link(s) when playing media (SOLVED!!) - 2008/07/01 14:13 OK, this is odd. Yesterday I did a clean win2k install on an old laptop that will be my server. I installed Simese_SwissCenter-1.45.exe, configured it and read in movies, series and some music from networked drives.
It all worked great, including album-art, picked up series and movies details, etc. Today however, everything I try to play says invalid link, cover- and album art isn't shown either, even though they are in the proper folders with same names. I rebooted the system, restarted services, all to no avail. Does this sound familiar to anyone, if not, any tips?

When I try to play a movie it presents me a Playlist.m3u with:

http://media:8080/F%3A/MoviesB/28%20Days%20Later...%20%282002%29/28%20Days%20Later...%20%282002% 29.avi

The local file path on the server is actually:
F:\MoviesB\28 Days Later... (2002)\28 Days Later... (2002).avi

and cover is:
F:\MoviesB\28 Days Later... (2002)\28 Days Later... (2002).jpg

So all seems fine...

I can browse normally through the complete interface, support.log only shows:

Any suggestions welcome!

Re: Invalid Link(s) when playing media (SOLVED!!) - 2008/07/01 14:37 ok, solved. Hopefully this is usefull to other people.
I started thinking what's the difference between yesterday evening (when it all worked) and now (not accessing the right links).

When I installed and configured everything, Simese runs as a desktop app with the credentials of the logged on user. After reboot Simese server runs as a service. By default they run as "LocalSystem". oh yeah... LocalSystem has no access to networked resources...
Solution (in my case), open your services (Start > Run > services.msc > OK). Doubleclick to open "SimeseServer", go to the tab "Log on as" (or whatever it is in english, or your language ) and change the LocalSystem account to a windows user who has proper access to the (mapped network) drives.

Restart and all should be well, for me it is. As an extra precaution I made a batch file that reconnects all my drivemappings as a persistent connection, but I doubt that was necesarry in retrospect.

Hope this was helpfull to anyone and I'm sure it was in the manual. I just suck at rtfm sorry, that happens if you work with computers all day
