Relocate configuration files - 2009/09/22 17:01 My computer was infected by a Trojan or something, so I've installed my OS again (on a new drive).
Now I've still got the old drive, not deleted anything, and I was asking myself:
How can I retrieve and implement the old configuration files?
I can add everything again, but I'm talking about thousands of files in about maybe 40 directories.

I'm using the last stable swisscenter and simese server.
I'm (still) using Win Vista, so it has to be in the %program data%/simese/data/ directory. But I can't find it. A lot of configuration files, but not one that's containing drive-locations...

Thanks in advance.

Re: Relocate configuration files - 2009/09/22 17:08 All your configuration was stored in the database. I guess you didn't export your settings to XML?

If your current SwissCenter is the same version as was on the old drive then you could try copying the old database to the new install. The database files are in C:\ProgramData\Simese\MySQL\swiss.

Re: Relocate configuration files - 2009/09/23 11:33 So I've tried, so I've failed.

Installed Swisscenter for the third time
The openswhowcenter version (1.47), the 2.5.1 version and the 1.4.7 version (both standard).
Opened port 8080 within windows firewall, gave Simese rights to acces in windows firewall, opened ports 8080 on my router.
And still, still, STILL NOTHING!

I got it "working" on version 2.5.1
The ports weren't a problem, but copying the files from:
%program data%/simese/mysql/swiss/
gave me errors on the configuration page.

Why isn't it possible to make it easy and just working?
The last time was also a complete disaster.
At a certain point it works, and I never knew why.
I'm not a complete n00b on computers, but this...

Please help me out...

Re: Relocate configuration files - 2009/09/23 13:40 Firstly, the OpenShowcenter version is nothing to do with SwissCenter. Just use the lastest 2.5.10 beta installation. It would also help us if you could add some details to your signature to let us know which player(s) you are using.

If you still have your old installation you can export your settings to XML and import this to your new installation which will restore all your media locations. If not then you will have to re-add them manually, then do a media search to re-add your media to the database.

Re: Relocate configuration files - 2009/09/23 15:08 I'm sorry that I'm so fed up with all the fiddling for nothing.

I'm using a Pinnacle showcenter 200. I'm using Win Vista ultimate 32bit.
I'm not an expert about networking, but I know how to use a router (open ports on it, etc.)

What I've tried:
Installing the 2.5.1 version. Worked. Ports were ok.
Next step: getting the configurations from "old" simese (I'm not sure which version it was). I used all the files from the directory programdata/simese/mysql/swiss and copied it to my own drive.
Next: Starting the configuration page, with firefox (http://localhost:8080/blabla.php). Worked.
Got to the page media location. Error.
Tried fixing it by replacing the original files. Error. Deleted simese and tried a different version, no succes on the ports at all.

End of the line: I don't know why on the other versions why the ports are "being used". It's impossible, even by switching ports to 8080 (which DID worked on the 2.5.1 version) it still doesn't work. Very frustrating...

EDIT: Thanks for trying to helping me out!

Re: Relocate configuration files - 2009/09/23 17:27 Forget trying to use your old database. Uninstall Simese/SwissCenter and do a complete fresh install using the 2.5.10 package (2.5.1 does not exist).

You also do not need to open any ports on your router, this will make your SwissCenter accessible from the internet which you do not want. The only ports configuration required is to open the port on your local firewall.

It would also help if you actually gave some details of the errors you see rather than saying it 'doesn't work' and 'Error'. Post a screenshot and/or a logfile set to level 8.

Re: Relocate configuration files - 2009/09/24 11:47 Thanks for the info. If my old database is "lost", then I know enough.

Thank you very much.
