video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/05/25 07:02Hi,
After updating SwissCenter from 1.20 to 1.20.1 all video files appeared in all different categories. Besides browsing through the video files resulted in a database error. Both with the combi Simese/Windows XP and Apache/Linux, this popped up.
I created a new DB, but no luck, however after rolling back file /video_synopsis.php, the problem disappeared.
Is this a bug or am I the only lucky one with this. If so, how can I prevent this in the future?

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/05/25 10:17Klaas,
I have exactly the same problem and was already getting crazy in looking for the fault in my own installation.
I guess that you installed SC 1.20.1 again on your Synology NAS? So did I on my DS207+!
Probably, if nobody else is reporting this mass then itīs related to the interaction of SC 1.20.1 and the LINUX installation on the Synology, where I use the newest firmware 5.98 which comes with Apache 2.2.3, PHP 5.2.0 and MySQL 5.0.51.
You probably also will have noticed that the php.ini file has changed and your very valuable installation guide "Manual to install Swisscenter on Synology DSx07 - 2008/03/10 18:47" might need an update (different line numbers in php.ini). Instruction [10] "enable the "Play now" screen" is also necessary already to get the correct display of the "System Tests" results in the Installation folder, otherwise there are no System test results displayed at all.
I am also not able to load/save settings in the Configuration folder. In the saved XML file I am getting plenty of warnings such as
<b>Warning</b>: array_merge() [<ahref='function.array-merge'>function.array-merge</a>]: Argument #2 is not an array in <b>/volume1/web/svr/swiss/ext/xml/XPath.class.php</b> on line <b>5586</b><br /> <b>XPath error in XPath.class.php:1727</b> In importFromString(): XML error in given string on line 1 column 7. Reason:not well-formed (invalid token)<br \> <b>XPath error in XPath.class.php:5974</b> XPath error in XPath.class.php:1727. Message: In importFromString(): XML error in given string on line 1 column 7. Reason:not well-formed (invalid token)<br \> <br />
Probably this gives a further hint of this or even another problem.
Unfortunately , I will not be very helpful to investigate the cause of the problem due to lack of knowledge in Linux, PHP, SQL, ...
However, if there is something I could test I will be happy to assist!

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/05/25 15:53Hi Klaas,
no, I havenīt tried /video_synopsis.php
However I found, that the videos are sorted correctly into the defined catagories, what you can check if you go to SC Configuration Utility - Media Management - Edit video details and then select the desired category. And you will be surprised, I guess, the videos are sorted correctly.
That means the fault is IMHO somewhere else, for me it seems in the section, where you select the videos for playback.
I have in the meantime copied all SC 1.20 files across the 1.20.1 files, and suddenly the video problem is gone!

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/05/25 18:11H Joe,
I also rolled back to SwissCenter V1.20 and updated to V1.20.1 again, but just putting back /video_synopsis.php from V1.20 appeared not to be sufficient to solve the problem with the video cats. After putting back all "/video"-files of V1.20 (within the main SwissCenter directory) and V1.20.1 works fine. I'll go through the codes of the changed files trying to find the reason what's causing the problems, but I can image that we'll need "professional" help to solve properly. regards, Klaas ----------------------------------------- SwissCenter 1.20.1 Simese 1.40 & Apache 2 / PHP 5.2.0 Windows XP & Linux Synology 2.6.15 Synology DS107+ (128) Pinnacle SC200

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/05/25 19:00Hi guys,
I don't fully understand the exact problem you are having with categories but I can assure you the video_synopsis.php has not changed recently so that cannot be the cause.
The only way that categories 'could' become corrupted is if you export and import your settings to xml. This is because the code has not been updated since parent categories were introduced.
If you both did a normal update from 1.20 to 1.20.1 then I can't think of anywhere a problem could occur. The last update didn't change anything relating to categories.

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/05/26 13:25Hi Nigel,
You're completely right. File /video_synopsis.php is not the problem. What I did to solve it, is that I first put back all "video"-files from V1.20 and then copied all "video"-files from V1.20.1 one by one. After copying every single "video"-file I restarted SwissCenter to see what happened. To my surprise I did not encounter any problems. So I expect 'the problem is not within the files, but might be related to the update process. Does that make sense or is it completely nonsense?

Well, I use the "Apache/Linux"-combi on the DS for daily use and "Simese/Windowx XP"-combi for comparison (in case things go wrong).
The problem with the video cats occurs only with the "Apache/Linux"-combi.

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/05/27 16:40Hi,
Not sure if this is the same issue but I did the update to SC 1.20.1 to fix the weather issue. This worked fine for me. A couple of days later I also updated the Synology CS407 to firmware version DSM 2.0-0598. After that update SC was not accessible anymore. Error message: Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.7:8080.
Can it be that the firmware update has overwritten settings previously set-up using Klaas his manual?

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/06/10 18:16Hi,
I did a new try with a freshly formatted HDD in my Synology DS207+ which was upgraded to FW 6.34 beta which offers PHP 5.26 on Apache 2.2.8.
Again, as reported by Klaas when starting this thread video file categories were not selected correctly in SC 1.20.1 when playing video files. In fact all video files were always shown in all categories, the categories seemed to have been lost. The database, however, showed video files sorted correctly into the defined categories.
Then I copied all relevant SC files 1 by 1 from SC 1.20 replacing the corresponding SC 1.20.1 file in the swiss directory of my DS207+.
Finally I found that using the video_search.php of SC 1.20 solved the problem in SC 1.20.1. Therefore I think that the video_search.php from SC1.20.1 provides the mess on my Linux installation.
One further hint: I am using in some video file names german characters like ä, ö, ü, ... I donīt know whether this fact causes the video_search.php from SC 1.20.1 malfunction in my case.
Regards
Joe

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/06/11 08:43The funny thing is that, after you rolled back the "video"-files from V1.20, you plug-in the same files again, but now from V1.20.1, the video cats are still OK.
Well I'm not sure, but following this, the problem isn't related to the "video"-files themselves, but I assume there's a conflict between the Synology Linux version and the automatic update. But once again, I'm not an expert.

I am not sure whether I understand you correctly with your "roll back" of video files:
I didnīt have to touch (move) any file except the video_search.php to observe the mess with the categories (with video_search.php from SC 1.20.1) or correct operation (with video_search.php from SC.1.20), I also did not have to do a new media_search, just replace the video_search.php!

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/06/13 16:26Hi Klass, thanks for the explanation!
I fully confirm your experience of installing SC 1.20.1 on the Synology NAS and probably also other Linux platforms:
1. After installation of SC 1.20.1 and fully completed media_search:
Video files are not sorted into the defined categories when playing them. However, they are displayed in the correct categories while editing video file information.
2. Replacing the video video_search.php of SC 1.20.1 (2.08 kB ) with video_search.php of SC 1.20 (1.78 kB ):
All video files are played / sorted correctly into the defined categories
3. Again, replacing the video video_search.php of SC 1.20 (1.78 kB ) with video_search.php of SC 1.20.1 (2.08 kB ):
All video files are played / sorted correctly into the defined categories
It seems that an initialization function missing in the video_search.php of SC.1.20.1.
Probably our experts could have a look into this issue and find this small glitch!

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/06/13 19:30It seems that an initialization function missing in the video_search.php of SC.1.20.1. The only difference in this file between the two releases is that the SQL was optimised to not join actors, directors, genres tables if they weren't required, and it works very well. I can't think of anything in there that could cause your category issue.
The best thing to do is to post a two logfiles (set to level 9) so that I can compare the SQL being executed when working and not working.

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/06/14 12:44From your logfiles I can see that you are getting ALL categories with 1.20.1 but I still don't see how from the code, and it doesn't make sense that reverting video_search to 1.20 would fix anything.
When you select a Category are you still getting the Database Error message?
The database error is actually misleading as it really means it's trying to get something from the PHP SESSION but there's nothing to retrieve. The selected category is stored in the session and I think it's losing it somehow.
Take a look at this thread and compare your session settings in your php.ini, then report back.

To be honest, I simply donīt know how to get the php.ini from the LINUX world into the MS world. I donīt have access to the LINUX files on the DS207+ from MS, just to the public files (directories "swiss", and all data). I am sure that thereīs a way to copy the php.ini from /usr/syno/etc to a MS accessable file, but my knowlodge is way to short, unfortunately. Therefore I took the simple approach with the screenshots from the telnet session.
Only thing I noticed was that you don't have session.save_path defined. Mine is: session.save_path=C:\ProgramData\Simese\php\Session\
This is on Vista and you should have this set on your XP server, not sure about Linux though.
I have added session.save_path= /tmp, a statement I also found in a forum discussing the Oxylbox installation on a Synology NAS.
Unfortunately, without any success. Therefore I just stick to the video_search.php of SC 1.20 and Iīam fine.
Thanks for your support!

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/06/15 06:31Thanks Klaas, that really helps and saves me probably hours of googling!
BTW, I was forced to go back to the video_search.php of SC 1.20 completely. Whereas the video_search.php of SC1.20.1 seemed to work after I copied it on the video_search.php of SC1.20, next day, (without any interactions from me, even not accessing SC) the category mess was back again. Again, copying the the video_search.php of SC 1.20 on the 1.20.1 version solved the problem.
So I really wonder, that you can work with the 1.20.1 version. The difference between our two NAS seems to be that I am working now on the newest beta FW (with PHP 5.26) and you are on the last official FW, right?

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/06/15 08:52I guess I found the reason for the mess with the categories related to the video_search.php:
In the DS207+ Webcenter configuration menu I had tagged "Turn on PHP configuration option register_globals."
Thatīs the failure!
If you untag the option (see attached printscreen), the mess is gone.
Klaas, would you like to verify this and in case it turns out to be correct, probably add this to your (excellent) manual?

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/06/16 06:59I'see that the "PHP configuration option register_globals" is also turned on in my settings, but I do not have the mess after copying forth and back file "video_search.php".
However, I'll give it a try to see what's happening and report back to you next week when I'm home.

Re: video data base error with SC1.20.1 - 2008/06/16 13:59For whats its worth, I have a similar set-up as Joe & Klaas. I never experienced the issue with the database but than I did not have the "Turn on PHP configuration option register_globals." option checked.SwissCenter 1.20.1 Synology CS407 firmware DSM 2.0-0598 Pinnacle SC200 - firmware 21-63 Windows XP SP2 Linux on Synology PHP 5.2.0 MySQL 5.0.51 Apache 2.2.3 (Unix)
