It’s been a long time in development and we now have a new release. This contains many new features and bug fixes to hopefully make this the best release yet.

Many thanks to all the beta testers that provided valuable feedback over the past couple of years.

This release requires PHP 5.2 or 5.3, and so PHP 4 is no longer supported. PHP 6 is also not yet supported by this release.

Enhancements / New Features
Movies and TV

  • Themes are generated using fanart as background images.
  • Added FSK rating system from Germany.
  • Added Kijkwijzer rating system from Netherlands.
  • Movies and TV episodes can now be rated.
  • Added ‘Lookup details’ to TV episode selected page.
  • Subtitles for movies can be downloaded from OpenSubtitles.org.
  • Trailers can be assigned to movies as either a local file, URL, or YouTube link.

Music

  • New ‘Browse by composer’ for audio.

Photos

  • Slideshow photo interval now configurable with PHOTO_DELAY_SECONDS setting.

Internet Radio

  • Live365 internet radio.
  • RadioTime internet radio.
  • IceCast internet radio.
  • Steamcast internet radio.

Internet Video

  • YouTube now supported.
  • Watch Apple movie trailers.
  • Movie trailers from FilmTrailer.com.
  • TOMA – Internet TV.
  • Internet Bookmarks can now be assigned categories and ratings.

Parsers

  • New parser framework (thanks to Utsi) that allows multiple parsers to be queried.
  • Dutch movie parser from moviemeter.nl.
  • German movie parser from zelluloid.de.
  • Movie parser to get details and trailer from Apple trailers site.
  • Actor images can be downloaded by TVDB and IMDb parsers.

Media Search

  • Implemented SwissMonitor to watch media locations for new media (Windows only)
  • Separate scheduled media searches can be defined for RSS and media.
  • Updated GetID3 library to 1.8.5.

System

  • Supported players can now be configured independently for compatibility.
  • Added System Test to verify installation files.
  • Added Parser Tests to verify movie and TV parsers.
  • Statistics pages in both Configuration and TV.

Popcorn Hour (NMT) Improvements

  • Enhanced ‘Now Playing’ screen showing fanart and progress bar.
  • Fixed incorrect detection of 1080p output, 1920×1080 instead of 1920×1280.
  • Fixed oversized banners when using 1080p output.

Bugfixes

  • Fixed XPath encoding of & in exported settings (PHP5 only).
  • ‘Recently Added’ now uses discovered date rather than timestamp of media.
  • Improved caching of languages to improve performance.
  • Shuffling large playlists no longer restricted to first 2000 items.
  • Fixed UTF-8 decoding of Quicktime tags in m4a files.
  • Fixed audio playback of flac, wav, etc due to incorrect mime-type being used.
  • Fixed requests to weather.com.
  • Fixed relative file paths in playlists.
  • Fixed detection of MusicIP service with PHP5 and Vista/Windows 7.
  • Fixed UTC time of tracks scrobbled to Last.fm.
  • Fixed encoding of file paths to UTF-8.

Finally a new release. This brings new features and a couple of fixes.

Enhancements / New Features

  • Flickr photos.
  • Mainand Internet menus support icons when defined in the style.
  • New ‘Internet TV’ feature to play video streams supported by your player.
  • Internet radio now shows ‘Now Playing’ details.
  • Internet radio searches for station, genre, and country are now configurable.
  • Internet bookmarks for web pages, radio streams, and video streams now configurable. Removed need for URL files.
  • Enlarged thumbnail images in Compact and Thumbnail browse mode.
  • New Large thumbnail view when browsing.
  • Removed Video submenu and merged Video and DVD Video media types.
  • Can now filter Video and TV media that have no details defined in the Config.
  • Language selection now uses country flag images.
  • Improved ‘Now Playing’ sync on EVA700 players.

Popcorn Hour (NMT) Improvements

  • Now supports mp4, m2ts, m4v video files.
  • DVD images now supported on Egreat, HDX, and ISTAR players.
  • Last.FM now supported (with ability to skip tracks).
  • Now supports the Elektron EHP-600/606 and CMI SYVIO 200 media players.

Bugfixes

  • Updated SHOUTcast internet radio to now use classic.shoutcast.com.
  • Fixed old Photo Album not being removed after rename issue.
  • Fixed Browse by Filesystem page history issues.
  • Fixed issue of multiple media searches running on Apache.
  • Slideshows in PC browser now use correct delay, instead of default 1 hour.

Apologies for the late arrival of this release. We were hoping to get more in here but real life work takes priority so not had much spare development time unfortunately.

Plenty of improvements here for PCH owners anyway.

Enhancements / New Features

    • Automatically load a specified playlist.
    • Added a timeout if user account is protected by a PIN. The default timeout period is 4 hours.
    • Added TV expression editor.
    • Added a Spanish movie parser.
    • IMDb parser now supported (now with hi-res images).
    • Updated Load/Save Settings to include latest features.
    • Added System Tests for cache and playlist locations.
    • Can now update SwissCenter to the latest development version.
    • Menus will now wrap from first to last page.

Popcorn Hour (NMT) Improvements

    • Font sizes are now consistent for all players/resolutions.
    • Music playback fixed with Now Playing screen (requires firmware NMT-001-17-080725-15-POP-402-000 or later)
    • DVD images can now be played (iso, img, ifo formats supported).
    • Now supports the HDX 900 and Egreat EG-M31A media players.
    • Fixed background image size when using HD modes.

Bugfixes

    • Style and language are now re-cached after an update.
    • Fixed Now Playing screen layout for PHP5 users.
    • Fixed shuffle defaulting to ‘On’ when browsing by filesystem.
    • Fixed TVDB parser to use English if users language is not supported.
    • Fixed auto-updating of files containing spaces.
    • Fixed iTunes playlist import with UNC paths.
    • Fixed setting viewed status in TV/video details.
